The Workers' Compensation Board is pleased to offer a new webinar for workers and their advocates!
Workers' Comp 202 is a deeper dive into best practices workers can use to access their workers' compensation benefits. This presentation will cover:
- Labor market attachment and how to demonstrate it
- Details on benefit periods and how benefit rates are calculated
- The importance of items such as the degree of disability and the Carrier Continue Payments (CCP) order
- How advocates can help workers and comply with privacy provisions
- The Workers' Compensation Board's New York Medical Treatment Guidelines, and more!
Our recent NYS Workers' Advocate Conference featured this Workers' Comp 202 session with the Advocate for Injured Workers, and due to popular demand, the Board is sharing this session with the rest of our workers' compensation community.

New Dates Added: Workers' Comp 101 with the Advocate for Injured Workers
The Workers' Compensation Board (Board) is pleased to continue its webinar series for workers on the dates listed below.
During each session, the Board's Advocate for Injured Workers will cover the basics of the workers' compensation system, including employees' rights if they become injured or ill on the job. Each one-hour presentation will also cover:
- Employees' benefits under workers' compensation
- How to file a claim
- How to get help with your claim if needed
- Tips and best practices for injured workers
- Information to be aware of regarding COVID-19 claims

New Dates Added: Webinar for Workers on COVID-19 and Workers' Compensation
The Workers' Compensation Board (Board) is pleased to continue its webinar series to help workers who believe they contracted COVID-19 on the job, especially those who have missed time from work or are suffering from ongoing or "long-haul" symptoms.
These one-hour session will provide information on workers' rights when it comes to filing a workers' compensation claim and the cash and/or medical benefits they may be eligible to receive.
While the online sessions are targeted toward workers who have lost time from work, have ongoing medical problems and/or fall into the category of "long haulers," the information is relevant to anyone who believes they may have contracted COVID-19 due to an exposure at work.
Please note: workers have two years from the time they contracted COVID-19 to file a claim.

What Board-Authorized Health Care Providers Need to Know
The Workers' Compensation Board (Board) is pleased to continue its webinar series for health care providers with a presentation specifically for Board-authorized providers who are currently able to treat New York State's injured workers.
Over the past several years, the Board has been working to make the workers' compensation system better for injured workers, better for businesses, and better for health care providers.
We've undertaken several initiatives to improve health care and enhance the experience of treating providers by streamlining the workers' compensation process and reducing the amount of paperwork.

- Considerations when hiring independent contractors, laborers, and domestic workers

- The webinar I want to attend is full. What can I do?
- If a session says FULL next to it, you will not be able to register for that session, or join it, unless you already registered and received a confirmation for that date. You must register for another webinar date where space is still available.
- I received a confirmation email and access link, but I am having trouble getting into the webinar. How can I join?
- If you are having technical issues with using WebEx, please call Cisco for support at (866) 229-3239. If a Board staff person’s contact information is listed on your confirmation email for assistance, please note they will be running the webinar and will not be available to assist you during that time.
- I didn’t receive a confirmation email – how can I join a webinar?
- You should have received a confirmation email with an access link shortly after you registered to attend one of our webinars. If you didn’t receive a confirmation email:
- Check your junk/spam folder to make sure you didn’t receive it.
- Email outreach@wcb.ny.gov – we can check if you’re registered and resend you the confirmation email or register you on your behalf if there is still space available.
- If the webinar is starting shortly and there are still spaces available, try registering for the webinar again.
- If you need technical assistance with using WebEx, please call Cisco for support at (866) 229-3239.

- Alternatively, if these emails are already in your spam/junk folder, you can go to the email from messenger@webex.com within your spam/junk folder and make these changes based on your email client.
- Gmail: with the email from messenger@webex.com opened, select the “Not spam” button at the top.

- Can I add the webinar to my calendar?
- Yes. After registering for a webinar, you will receive a confirmation email from messenger@webex.com. If your calendar application supports the iCalendar standard, you can add a scheduled meeting to it.
- To add a WebEx meeting to your calendar, select the link at the bottom of your confirmation email following “To add this meeting to your calendar program (for example Microsoft Outlook), click this link” to download and import the iCalendar file (.ics) to your calendar.
- Can I use the link in the confirmation email to attend multiple webinar dates?
- No. The link you receive will only work for the date of the webinar you are registering for. You will need to register for each specific webinar date you want to attend.
- How do I know I can use WebEx on my computer or mobile device?
- You can test your system by going to webex.com/test-meeting. If the test meeting fails, visit help.webex.com or call (866) 229-3239 for further assistance.
