Please be advised that Joseph Sciortino, M.D. has resigned his authorization to treat injured workers in the New York State workers’ compensation system effective August 22, 2014. Dr. Sciortino’s last known practice address is 916 Bay Ridge Parkway, Brooklyn, New York 11228.

The Chair’s designee’s investigation included issues involving reimbursement requests and a deposition held on June 24, 2014, pursuant to Sections 13-d(4), 13-d(2)(d), and 142 of the Workers’ Compensation Law at the Board’s Schenectady, New York, location.

Dr. Sciortino is prohibited from rendering treatment and care to injured workers as of August 22, 2014. Reports or Board forms submitted by Dr. Sciortino for services rendered prior to August 22, 2014, are valid, but are invalid for any services rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Sciortino for services rendered prior to August 22, 2014, should not be denied due to the resignation.

This resignation is permanent and Dr. Sciortino may not reapply for authorization status. Any questions regarding the authorized lists should be referred to the Medical Director’s Office at 1 (800) 781-2362.
