Subject Number 046-1047 Temporary Suspension of Dr. Dhimantkumar G. Mankad

Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations

Authorization No. 125175-0W

March 27, 2018

Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(4), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board has exercised her authority to temporarily suspend Dr. Dhimantkumar G. Mankad’s authorization to treat injured workers within the New York State workers’ compensation system effective March 26, 2018. Dr. Mankad's last known business address is:

10 Lindale Avenue
New Hartford, New York 13413

The Chair’s designee’s investigation has revealed that the New York State Department of Health, State Board for Professional Medical Conduct (BPMC) has issued Order # 18-057, wherein Dr. Mankad agreed not to contest the Seventh Specification, in full satisfaction of the charges against him, including that he failed to maintain an adequate medical record for a patient with a history of cardiac disease and hypertension who presented to him with complaints of ongoing right lateral rib pain radiating to the right chest, who was pronounced dead after being sent home by him earlier that same day. This resulted in a Censure and Reprimand, and a 36-month probationary period, during which Dr. Mankad may practice medicine only when monitored by a licensed physician, board certified in an appropriate area (“Practice Monitor”), and during which he must successfully complete a continuing education program as directed by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct.

Therefore, the Chair believes that Dr. Mankad may be guilty of misconduct, and that such misconduct would detrimentally affect the quality of care provided to injured workers.

Dr. Mankad is prohibited from rendering treatment and care to injured workers while his authorization is temporarily suspended. Reports submitted by Dr. Mankad for services rendered prior to March 26, 2018, are valid but are invalid for any services rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Mankad for services rendered prior to March 26, 2018, should not be denied due to the suspension of his authorization.

This suspension remains in effect until further notice. Any questions regarding the authorized lists should be referred to the Medical Director’s Office at 1 (800) 781-2362.
