Registration for Health Care Providers and Independent Medical Examiners

The Workers' Compensation Board (Board) has initiated a registration process to update and maintain an accurate directory of authorized health care providers. Provider registration is different from provider authorization. Once a provider is authorized to treat, he or she will be required to register with the Board every 2 or 3 years (to coincide with their professional license renewal date).

The registration process will ensure that our public directory of providers contains up-to-date information, enabling injured workers to easily identify and contact doctors available to treat. The Board's online Health Provider Search will include only those providers who are authorized and registered.

Treating providers who fail to register will be ineligible for the HP-1 process to seek payment for disputed bills.

Independent Medical Examiners (IME's) are encouraged to register.

To facilitate the registration process, the Board will utilize the existing New York State Health Commerce System (HCS). HCS is a secure online system already in use by many New York medical professionals. Treating providers and IME’s should follow the steps below to complete the registration process.
