Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(5), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board has exercised his authority to revoke Dr. Joseph Michael Abramowitz’s authorization to treat injured workers within the New York State workers’ compensation system effective February 15, 2017. Dr. Abramowitz's last known business addresses are 3450 Bonita Road, Suite 210, Chula Vista, California 91910, and 3525 Del Mar Heights Road, San Diego, California 92130-2199.

The revocation is based upon BPMC Order No. 16-414, issued by the New York State Department of Health, State Board for Professional Medical Conduct (BPMC), effective January 4, 2017, wherein Dr. Abramowitz’s license to practice medicine in New York State was revoked based on a California Medical Board Order, pursuant to which he was subject to a stayed revocation of his license and a five year probationary period for repeated acts of clearly excessive prescribing, prescribing dangerous drugs without prior examination and medical indication, repeated negligent acts, and failure to maintain adequate and accurate records.

Dr. Abramowitz is prohibited from rendering treatment and care to injured workers. Reports submitted by Dr. Abramowitz for services rendered prior to February 15, 2017 are valid, but are invalid for any services rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Abramowitz for services rendered prior to February 15, 2017, should not be denied due to the revocation of his authorization.
