BPR Project Sponsor Update

October Update

I hope this Update finds you well and that you are having a productive fall.

We have some great outreach opportunities coming up in November and December that I want to tell you about. It will be an ideal time to make your voice heard about the Medical Portal project, as NYSTEC, our consulting vendor, and the internal project team are in the midst of gathering the project business requirements.

In a joint effort, NYSTEC and the Board will be conducting webinar sessions on the Medical Portal project with the stakeholder Focus Groups starting in November. These webinars are designed to elicit feedback about stakeholders’ requirements for the Portal. Invitations to the sessions will be sent as the dates get closer. The webinar dates and times for each Focus Group are listed below:

Payors Friday, 11/14 1 – 3 pm
Providers Monday, 11/17 4 – 6 pm
Employers Tuesday, 11/18 1 – 2 pm
Attorneys Wednesday, 11/19 4 – 5 pm
Labor Unions Thursday, 11/20   1 – 2 pm
Injured Workers Friday, 11/ 21 12 – 1 pm

If you are not a member of a Focus Group but would like to participate, you may attend a District Dialogue meeting in December. These in-person sessions are held at the District offices. Although any workers’ compensation topic can be discussed at a District Dialogue meeting, I encourage you to use the meeting as an opportunity to bring up any questions, feedback, or ideas you have about the Medical Portal. Your comments will be relayed back to the project team. We want to make sure that the Portal meets the needs of our stakeholders, so your feedback is crucial to the success of the project.

The District Dialogue meetings are usually held from 12–1 pm, but they have been expanded for December to include sessions for injured workers and providers. The complete schedule is listed in the table below.

If you are unable to participate in any of the outreach sessions, please send us an email at the BPR mailbox: BPR@wcb.ny.gov with your questions, comments, and ideas. Your feedback is very important to all of the BPR project initiatives. Please keep monitoring the BPR section of the Board’s website. It is the place to go for all the latest news and information.

Thank you again for collaborating with us on the BPR, and I hope that you will be able to make one of the outreach sessions. We want to hear from you!
